What is Provably Fair?

Provably fair is the idea that players should be able to prove and verify that the results of their games are fair and unchanged. This is accomplished by combining a commitment method with cryptographic hashing.

Before a game round begins, the casino generates a game result that requires the casino's input (the server seed) and the player's input (their client seed, and nonce).

fair result = casino's input (hashed) + player's input

fair result = server seed (hashed) +[client seed + nonce]

This allows the player to have some control over all the results because placing a bet with a different seed pair or resetting the nonce will always have a different result.

The casino uses cryptographic hashing for the server seeds in order to prevent the player from knowing the full result beforehand but still allow them to check it afterwards. The hashed version of the server seed will always correspond exactly with the unhashed version.

Using a SHA-256 decrypting and encrypting tool we are able to verify that only a single specific unhashed version encrypts to one other specific hashed version.
